X2 have recently successfully implemented a night trunking operation on behalf of a market leading stationery wholesaler. A change in their network created new flows from a North-west Distribution centre into the Midlands with changeovers with their South-east depots at night. This allows bulk picked orders to be repositioned to meet with their local delivery fleet to allow next day deliveries nationwide to their demanding customer base whilst the return legs are used to reposition different ranges of product to replenish local stockholding. The implementation went seamlessly and it is expected to lead to additional trunks routes being awarded as the network evolves.
